Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimbo Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Rimsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by Amos Moses - Jerry Reed. Sergei Rimsky has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimbo Johnson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergei Rimsky!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Johnson gets the takedown into side control.
Rimsky striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Rimsky tries to improve position but can't.

Johnson swings around for an armbar but Rimsky sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Johnson's guard.
Rimsky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rimsky is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rimsky's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rimsky defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Johnson's arms.

Rimsky is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Johnson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rimsky has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Johnson has the hooks in. Rimsky is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Rimsky tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Rimsky is looking to improve his position but Johnson isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Johnson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rimsky is surviving well by controlling Johnson's body position as best he can.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rimsky can do anything to dispel that myth.
Johnson misses with a head shot.
Rimsky is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.
Rimsky tries to reverse the position but Johnson maintains control.

Johnson has hold of Rimsky's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rimsky manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Johnson wants to take Rimsky's back here but Rimsky is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Rimsky swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rimsky wants to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.
Johnson looking to finish Rimsky with some ground and pound. This is bad for Rimsky!
Rimsky is looking to improve his position but Johnson isn't that keen on the idea.
Johnson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Rimsky is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Johnson has control of Rimsky's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rimsky regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Rimsky is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimbo Johnson dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rimsky connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Johnson momentarily.
Rimsky looks to land a left hand but Johnson moved out of range nicely.
Rimsky throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Rimsky scores with a sloppy right hand. Johnson should have avoided that one.


It looks like Jimbo Johnson has been cut.
Nice combo by Rimsky! Oh, that's hurt him - Johnson falls to the canvas and Rimsky follows him into side control.


Johnson is rocked!
Rimsky in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Johnson looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Rimsky turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergei Rimsky!
