Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Smilehoven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Voss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin Voss struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voss misses with a wild body shot.
Voss attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
A solid body kick from Voss.
Voss has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Voss there as he acknowledges the shot.
Voss moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Voss feints and as Smilehoven raises his hands in defense, Voss changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Voss throws and elbow that misses. Smilehoven uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Voss's guard. Nice move by Smilehoven!

Voss uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Voss misses with a jab, cross combination.
Smilehoven throws a left that rocks Voss and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Smilehoven dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Voss regain composure!


Voss is rocked!


It looks like Justin Voss has been cut.
Voss looks gassed!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smilehoven controlling from side mount.
Voss is still in real trouble! Can Smilehoven finish him?
Voss tries to buck Smilehoven off but Smilehoven is having none of it.

Voss is trying to escape the position but Smilehoven is controlling the position.
Voss seems to have recovered his senses.
Voss struggling a bit here.
Voss is trying to get back to half guard.
Smilehoven just content to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smilehoven has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Voss is trying to control Smilehoven's posture but Smilehoven avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Voss is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Voss is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Smilehoven is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Voss looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Voss tries to escape the position.
Smilehoven keeps control of the position easily here as Voss tries to buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smilehoven's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Voss tries to escape the position.
Voss is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Voss is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Voss tries to escape but Smilehoven has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Justin Voss's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Voss throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smilehoven lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Voss throws a jab when Smilehoven was well out of range.
Voss takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.


Voss is rocked!
Jim Smilehoven is winning the standup battle so far.
Smilehoven fakes the body blow, causing Voss to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Voss goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jim Smilehoven!
