PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Toby Fluke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ska Asap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Toby Fluke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ska Asap!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Asap fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fluke sprawls well initially but Asap persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Asap is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fluke doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Asap.
Fluke has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Asap is working away from the top position though.

Asap is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Fluke tries to kick Asap off but Asap keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Fluke slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Asap is stalling in the full guard.

Fluke can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Asap controls the pace.
Asap trying to control the position from guard on top but Fluke is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Asap slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Asap tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Asap has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Asap throws an elbow but Fluke slips to the side and avoids it well.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Fluke wants to improve his position but Asap is controlling well.

Asap works his foot free and advances to mount.

Fluke avoids a series of strikes thrown by Asap.
Asap tries to control but Fluke wriggling away.

Fluke tries to hold on but Asap pushes him away.
Fluke stops Asap from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Asap working for a guillotine from mount but Fluke is in no mood to give up.

Asap sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Asap moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Fluke has worked his arm free - good work by Fluke!

Fluke tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Asap wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ska Asap showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Fluke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Asap misses with a takedown attempt - Fluke sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Asap takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Asap throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fluke tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Asap is in Fluke's guard.
Asap must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fluke has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Asap has passed into side control.
Fluke manages to work his way to half guard, despite Asap's best efforts.

Ska Asap comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Asap has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
