PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Magician Rapist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shoeless Mike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shoeless Mike was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magician Rapist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Shoeless Mike!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mike is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Mike tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Mike tries for a takedown but Rapist circles away easily

and Rapist counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rapist tries to free his leg and advance position but Mike is retaining full guard.
Mike really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rapist. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rapist slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mike avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rapist sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mike's guard.

Rapist is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mike defends it well.
Mike has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rapist is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mike!
Mike gets back to half guard.

Rapist controlling the pace.

Rapist seems to be looking for submissions.
Rapist working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Mike's thigh. Mike counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Rapist trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mike working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rapist.
Rapist passes into half guard.
Rapist thows a huge punch but Mike dodges it nicely.
Rapist wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mike keeps working.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Rapist is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mike doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rapist.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rapist prevents Mike from improving his position.

Mike wants to control but Rapist is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Rapist has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rapist works his way into full mount!
Mike tries to hold on but Rapist postures up.

Rapist avoids the attempt from Mike to control.
Rapist looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rapist with a couple of short strikes.
Rapist cracks Mike with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rapist lands a heavy elbow.

Mike is rocked!

Rapist is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mike has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Mike is still in real trouble! Can Rapist finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rapist cracks Mike with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Rapist prevents Mike from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mike takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Rapist's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
