Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tiny Schroeder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos Astico!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Astico shoots in looking for a takedown. Schroeder tries to sprawl out of it but Astico keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Schroeder manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Schroeder stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Schroeder wants it to stay on the feet.

Schroeder keeping moving, preventing Astico from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schroeder is looking to stand up but Astico isn't so interested in that idea.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Schroeder not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Schroeder holds on and takes a little breather.
Schroeder is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Astico has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Schroeder is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Astico moves to clinch but Schroeder breaks away

and Schroeder counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Schroeder.

Schroeder drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Schroeder jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Schroeder has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Schroeder is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Schroeder drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Schroeder advances nicely into full mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Schroeder cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A nice elbow there by Schroeder.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Astico is desperately trying to improve his position but Schroeder has a good base and remains in mount.
Astico is in a horrible position here. Schroeder smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Astico is still in real trouble! Can Schroeder finish him?
Astico tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Astico seems to have recovered his senses.
Astico looks winded!

Astico is squirming around, avoiding Schroeder's attempts to control the action.
Schroeder lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Astico hang on?
Schroeder has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Astico is in all sorts of trouble here.

Astico tries to hold on but Schroeder postures up.

It looks like Carlos Astico has been cut.
Schroeder looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Astico covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
