PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Manuel Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orange Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Manuel Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orange Joe!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez throws a poor cross that misses
and Joe counters with a straight right hand.

Joe swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Perez throws a jab when Joe was well out of range.
Joe throws a sloppy head kick and Perez moves out of range easily.
Joe throws out a loose jab but Perez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Joe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perez sprawls well. Perez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Joe gets slowly back to his feet.

Perez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Joe seems to have recovered his senses.

Joe fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Joe throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Perez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Perez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Joe.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Perez, as that shot connected.

Perez scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Joe throws a push kick but Perez slaps the foot to one side.
Perez scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Perez lands with a right hand.
Joe lands with a kick to the temple. Perez shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Perez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Perez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Joe misses with a low kick.
Joe throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Perez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Joe throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Perez drops his hands momentarily and Joe takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Joe chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Manuel Perez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A nice inside leg kick there by Joe. That's going to slow Perez down.
Joe scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Perez doesn't seem bothered though.

Joe shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Perez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Perez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Joe is controlling him.
Perez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That was a close round but I would say that Manuel Perez will probably get the nod.

and Joe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Perez's guard.

Joe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Perez wants to stand but Joe is controlling his arm.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Orange Joe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Joe is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The strikes coming from Joe are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
