PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Simenkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sergei Simenkov!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Simenkov shoots in but Mendes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jake Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mendes takes the fight into the clinch.
Mendes wants a takedown.
Mendes is trying to pull guard but Simenkov has him pressed against the cage.
Simenkov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mendes pulls him back up using the underhooks.

We've been hearing good reports from Mendes's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jake Mendes will probably get the nod.
