Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shaun Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Rey!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Carlos Rey has been cut.
Johnson tries to land a front kick but Rey steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Rey, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rey somewhat.

Johnson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Rey is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.

Rey wriggles free and stands up.
Johnson throws a lazy right hand but Rey sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shaun Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Rey.

We've been informed that Rey has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Rey has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Johnson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Rey wants the takedown. Johnson is fighting it off but Rey persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Johnson's guard against the cage.

Rey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rey off to one side.

Rey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Rey shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rey stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rey seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rey is working away from the top position though.
Johnson is trying to get back to full guard.

Rey lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Johnson quite badly. Johnson pulls Rey in close trying to recover. Rey postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Johnson on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Johnson doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Rey!
