The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Islamanov takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Newport throws a head kick that misses.
Newport throws a head kick but Islamanov moves out of range.
Newport connects with an inside leg kick.
Newport looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Newport throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Newport throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Islamanov.
A slapping leg kick lands for Newport.
Newport throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

It looks like Ruslan Islamanov has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Newport rushes Islamanov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Islamanov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Newport walks away with a smile on his face. Islamanov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Islamanov takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Islamanov wants to stay close but Newport steps back to make room for something. Islamanov seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Newport and Islamanov drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
