The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eyj throws a low kick but it's checked well by Williams.
Williams tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Eyj is trying hard to land a takedown here. Williams sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Eyj throws a body kick that misses

and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. Eyj fights it but they end up in guard.
Williams wants to control from the top but Eyj keeps moving.

Eyj is looking for a triangle but Williams pushes his legs off easily.

Eyj escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Williams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Eyj tries to close the distance and clinch but Williams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A clash of legs there as Eyj blocks the low kick.
Eyj moves forwards but Williams connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Williams. Eyj does a little dance to reset his feet.
Williams blocks a head kick by Eyj.
Eyj connects with an inside leg kick.
Eyj tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Eyj darts in looking for a takedown but Williams gets double underhooks and turns Eyj into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hjalti Eyj. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Eyj manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Eyj's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Williams throws a body shot but no joy.
Williams is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Eyj rather than just go for the knockout.
Williams lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Eyj lands a head kick. Williams smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Eyj shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Eyj moves out of range easily.
Hjalti Eyj is winning the standup battle so far.
