Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James McVeigh !
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McVeigh shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Waters might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Waters misses with some strikes from the bottom.

McVeigh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Waters swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McVeigh shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Waters's guard.

Waters pushes McVeigh off and scrambles back to his feet.

McVeigh throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Waters was covering up waiting for the punch and McVeigh finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McVeigh pushes down on Waters's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McVeigh prevents Waters from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Waters is looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McVeigh trying to control the action but Waters is working from the bottom.

McVeigh seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That's time! Waters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


McVeigh tries to clinch there but Waters circles away.

McVeigh manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Waters wanted to stand there but McVeigh had control of the position.

Waters misses with a takedown attempt - McVeigh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

McVeigh shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McVeigh showed some decent athleticism there.
Waters is trying to stand back up but McVeigh is controlling him
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Waters trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
McVeigh looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Waters with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
McVeigh drops an elbow to the side of Waters's head.
McVeigh not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
McVeigh working over Waters with some ground and pound. Waters looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
McVeigh working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
McVeigh works his foot free and advances to mount.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Waters in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
McVeigh lands a big elbow - Waters is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Waters is forced to tap out!
