Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Flynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Nick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Flynn has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Flynn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Nick!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nick instigates a clinch.
Nick fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Nick jumps guard and drags Flynn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Flynn preventing the sweep.
Flynn showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Nick looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Flynn stands and steps away. Nick gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Flynn tries for a takedown but Nick sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Flynn throws a nice looking combination but Nick bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Nick changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Flynn looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Flynn wants to control but Nick postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nick wants to stand but Flynn has his arm trapped.
Flynn is looking for a sweep.

Nick decides to take the fight back to the feet.
An inside leg kick lands from Nick.
Nick misses with a body shot.

Nick looking to score a takedown here. Flynn is defending well but Nick drives through and ends up in Flynn's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flynn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Nick trying to control but Flynn postures up.
Flynn stops Nick from getting back to his feet.
Flynn tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Nick.

Flynn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Flynn prevents Nick from improving his position.

Nick with the active half guard here but Flynn passes nicely into side control.
Flynn controls the position from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Flynn decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nick to his feet.

Nick feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Flynn wants to hit a switch here but Nick passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Flynn there!
Nick looking to control but Flynn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Nick dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nick shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Nick drives through with a takedown into guard.
Flynn is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nick wants to control from the top but Flynn keeps moving.
Nick wants to stand but Flynn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Flynn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Flynn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nick doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Flynn.

Nick is defending against the submission attempts here by Flynn.
Flynn throwing shots but Nick is blocking nicely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Flynn passes to side control.
Nick on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Nick tries to improve position but can't.

Flynn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nick has escaped the position, nice work there.
Flynn remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Flynn decides to stand back up.
Flynn shoots for a double leg takedown but Nick sprawls well. He's pushed Flynn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Flynn looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Nick scores with a sloppy right hand. Flynn should have avoided that one.
A jab from Nick does it's job there.

Flynn throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nick was covering up waiting for the punch and Flynn finishes the takedown easily into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Flynn lands a couple of digs.
Flynn postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Flynn's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Nick is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Flynn defends well.
Jeff Flynn overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Flynn is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Nick closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Flynn gets back to half guard.
Nick trying to control from half guard but Flynn is working away.
Flynn is trying to maintain the position but Nick is very close to passing his half guard.
Flynn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Flynn.

That's one minute gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Flynn is on top in guard.
Flynn controls from within his opponent's guard.
Nick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Flynn is one step ahead there.
Flynn trying to control but Nick is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Flynn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Nick is trying to hold Flynn in close to prevent damage but Flynn has managed to pass into half guard.
Nick trying to control but Flynn postures up.

Flynn looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nick is positioning himself well to prevent Flynn advancing to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nick is not content to let Flynn control the position.
Nick is trying to stand up here but Flynn is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Nick controlling the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rick Nick was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Flynn takes the fight into the clinch.

Flynn manages to break the clinch.
Nick takes a swing at Flynn's ribcage but misses.

Flynn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Flynn showed some decent athleticism there.
Nick is refusing to be controlled, as Flynn sits in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jeff Flynn showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Flynn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
