PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Horoshi Goto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goto comes to the ring accompanied by Replica - Fear Factory. Shogun Silva told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Horoshi Goto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shogun Silva!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goto tries to clinch up.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Goto as he jumps to the side.
Silva throws a right hand that Goto ducks under and follows up with a left that Goto also avoids with ease.
Goto getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
It looks like Shogun Silva has been cut.
Silva looks to land a combination. Goto sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Silva gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Goto has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Silva wants to sweep but no luck.
Silva is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goto manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Silva missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Goto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Goto is breathing heavily.
Goto keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
Goto looking to control.
Silva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Goto is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Silva with a nice head shot there.
Silva stands up and waves to Goto to follow him.
Goto decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Goto is having none of it.
Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Goto is posturing up here but Silva has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Goto tries to roll out but it's too tight and Goto has to tap! Slick submission there by Silva!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Shogun Silva!
