PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lex Lusteer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Weddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weddle has chosen remember the name - fort minor as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weddle fails with the takedown.
Lusteer lands a nice hook to Weddle's body. Weddle takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Lusteer pushes Weddle up against the cage in a clinch.

Weddle pulls guard successfully.

Weddle looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Weddle thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

A head kick from Lusteer lands but Weddle takes it in his stride.

It looks like Wes Weddle has been cut.
Weddle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lusteer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Weddle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lusteer as he jumps to the side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lusteer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Weddle lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Weddle is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Lusteer has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Lusteer!

Weddle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lusteer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Weddle is striking but Lusteer is not phased and passes to half guard.

Lusteer wants to pass the guard but Weddle is defending well.

Lusteer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Weddle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lusteer.
Lusteer is breathing heavily.
Weddle flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Lusteer blocks the strikes from Weddle.

Lusteer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Weddle has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lusteer is trying to keep an underhook but Weddle manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Weddle has gone for a leg lock! Lusteer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Weddle's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lex Lusteer.
