PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Bobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Shade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobson comes into the arena with Onkel kånkel blaring out of the sound system. Shade is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Open Hapiness. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shade drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Bobson is pushing Shade's head away, looking to escape. Shade manages to hold on to the position though.

Shade misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bobson tries to bum rush Shade with a series of wild strikes but Shade uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Shade shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shade in particular looking to stall.
Shade throwing shots but Bobson is blocking nicely.

Bobson has one foot on Shade's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

With the fighters up against the cage, Bobson throws an elbow but misses.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shade should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Shade stalks Bobson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bobson's face. Bobson staggers backwards, shaken.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Shade. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Shade is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bobson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

and Shade counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bobson is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Shade has closed the distance and engaged Bobson in a clinch.
Shade tries to pull guard but Bobson holds him up against the cage and eventually Shade drops back down to his feet.

Bobson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

No joy there for Bobson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Shade shoots for a double leg takedown but Bobson sprawls well. He's pushed Shade's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lyoto Shade comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shade has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
