PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sun Ra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Fondels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ra's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Space is the place by Sun Ra. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sun Ra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Fondels!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fondels fails with the takedown.
A nice inside leg kick there by Fondels. That's going to slow Ra down.
Ra looks for the body kick but Fondels saw that one coming.
Fondels blocks a head kick by Ra.
Ra throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Andy Fondels has been cut.
Ra throws a sloppy head kick and Fondels moves out of range easily.
Ra fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Fondels has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fondels darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Sun Ra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fondels throws a right and a left that both miss.

Ra lands a big head kick that sends Fondels tumbling to the mat! Ra takes a step backwards and waves Fondels back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Fondels lands a really nice looking cross but Ra seems unphased.

The fight stays on the outside here - Ra looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Fondels has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. So far he's outscoring his opponent in the clinch so it seems to have been worthwhile.

Ra is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ra will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Ra is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

Ra lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fondels stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ra.

Fondels tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Ra's elbow.
Fondels pushes off an throws an elbow but Ra leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Ra blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Come on Ra - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Fondels tries to land knees in the clinch but Ra avoids the damage to the body.

and Ra counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Fondels pushes Ra back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
A nice right hand lands inside from Fondels.

Ra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ra throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


Andy Fondels's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Andy Fondels's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Sun Ra!
An intense looking Sun Ra took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'I see them as they are to is And not the seeming isness of the was'.
