Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Dee BJ (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grant Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Dee BJ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grant Ward!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward lands a jab.
BJ on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Jay Dee BJ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ward gets tackled into the cage by BJ. BJ maintains the clinch.
BJ is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ward to keep the fight standing.
Ward tries a body shot but BJ blocks it.
Ward connects with a nasty looking knee right to BJ's face.

BJ jumps guard and drags Ward to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Ward postures up in BJ's guard and throws a big left but BJ blocks it.

BJ working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ward doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ward manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

BJ is working an open guard so Ward takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Ward throws a leg kick which misses BJ's front leg but catches the back leg as BJ tries to avoid it.
Ward throws a nice outside leg kick.

BJ darts in and clinches Ward up against the cage.

Ward lands a nice elbow.
Ward tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
BJ takes a shot to the head.

Ward lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ward creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
The referee calls for Ward to work.
BJ takes a knee right on the jaw!
BJ fails to pull guard.
A head punch blocked on the inside by BJ.
This has been an exciting period of action!
BJ jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ward walks away with a smile on his face. BJ gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Dee BJ. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ward throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

BJ instigates a clinch.
BJ lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ward backwards.
BJ tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ward smiles and moves away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ward gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Ward tries a head kick but it misses.
BJ walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

BJ moves into range and clinches up with Ward.
Ward tries a knee to the head but BJ blocks it.
Ward tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
BJ doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
BJ takes a knee right on the jaw!
Ward throws a punch but it's blocked by BJ.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ward obliges.

BJ tries for a takedown. No joy.
BJ fails to pull the fight into his guard.
BJ pushes Ward back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ward lands with a short head shot on the inside.
BJ tries to pull guard but Ward holds him up against the cage and eventually BJ drops back down to his feet.
BJ misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ward misses with a hook to the ribs.

BJ has clasped his hands together around Ward's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Ward is trying to improve his position.
BJ blocks the strikes from Ward.
BJ knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ward on the ground.
BJ cracks Ward with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Ward is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked BJ off and has taken his back!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
