The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Shiroma. No joy for Lindi on that attempt.
Shiroma scores with a head kick.
Shiroma tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lindi swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Shiroma clinches.
Lindi is looking to take this one to the mat.

Shiroma gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lindi.

Shiroma throws a knee to the head but misses.
Lindi is trying to drag Shiroma to the mat but Shiroma just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Lindi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Shiroma drives through and clinches with Lindi against the cage.
Lindi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Lindi is looking for a takedown.
Shiroma is trying to stall.

Lindi turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Lindi has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lindi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shiroma keeps working.

Lindi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lindi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lindi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shiroma is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Lindi has hold of Shiroma's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Shiroma tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lindi cranks the arm and Shiroma screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Shiroma, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Karbal Lindi!
Karbal Lindi was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
