Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Genghis Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Flare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan comes to the cage accompanied by Mongol. Flare has chosen Also Sprach Zarathustra as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Genghis Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Flare!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ron Honeybunn and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Flare sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Flare will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Khan scores with a nice strike.

Flare looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Khan tries to roll over but Flare keeps him under control.

Flare is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flare throwing shots but Khan is blocking nicely.

Khan tries to get to full guard but Flare has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flare misses with a head shot. Khan uses the momentum to regain guard.
Flare wants to pass the guard but Khan is keeping the position.

Flare has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Flare postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Flare stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Khan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Flare is looking to work some ground and pound but Khan has wrist control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Khan is working hard here to advance position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Flare shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense.
Khan seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Khan stalks Flare and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Flare's face. Flare staggers backwards, shaken.

Flare uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Khan.
Flare uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Khan.
Khan leaves Flare with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Genghis Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Flare.

Flare moves away from the strike by Khan.
Khan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Khan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Flare scores with a decent looking hook.
Khan throws a body punch but Flare moves out of range.

Flare gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Genghis Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Flare dives in for a single leg takedown but Khan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Khan lands a hook to the side of the head.
Flare tries to work over Khan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Flare fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Flare misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Flare struggles to land a body shot inside as Khan controls his hands.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Khan throws out a loose jab but Flare uses good head movement to avoid it.

Flare takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Khan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Flare manages to avoid it.

Khan swings wildly with an uppercut but Flare uses good head movement to avoid it.

Flare throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Khan is looking to control Flare's arms but Flare gets an underhook and turns him. Now Khan has his back to the cage.

Khan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Flare backwards.

Khan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Flare looks for a takedown but Khan sprawls well.
Khan swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Flare decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Khan's guard.

Khan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Flare can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Khan moves into range and connects with a jab.
Khan throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Flare to counter with a crisp jab.

Flare shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khan's guard.

Khan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Khan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Genghis Khan will probably get the nod.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Khan pushes Flare back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Khan breaks the clinch.
Khan throws a looping overhand right but Flare ducks down to avoid it.
Flare takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Khan throws a hook to the side of Flare's head but Flare sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Flare gets a double leg takedown into Khan's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Flare's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

And that's the end of the fight!
Genghis Khan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Khan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
