PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Akisame Hikaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Sandoval (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hikaru comes to the cage accompanied by Ultimate Battle. Sandoval has chosen Overseer - Slayed as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Akisame Hikaru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felix Sandoval!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hikaru feints and as Sandoval raises his hands in defense, Hikaru changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hikaru keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Sandoval's head.

Sandoval is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hikaru is pushing down on Sandoval's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sandoval is fighting to maintain full guard but Hikaru has managed to sneak the leg through.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've been hearing good reports from Hikaru's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Hikaru looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Sandoval shoots for a double leg takedown but Hikaru sprawls well. He's pushed Sandoval's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sandoval is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hikaru pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Sandoval's coach down at Bruize Brothers was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sandoval's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Akisame Hikaru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felix Sandoval.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sandoval throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Hikaru will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Hikaru swings wildly with an uppercut but Sandoval uses good head movement to avoid it.
