Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Michael!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shawn Mandelev!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mandelev keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mandelev.
Mandelev misses with a double jab
and Michael counters with a low kick, right behind Mandelev 's knee.

Michael drives through with a takedown into Mandelev's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mandelev has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mandelev is working to get back to half guard.

Michael takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mandelev tries to hold on but Michael postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mandelev wants to control but Michael is having none of it.

Michael looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Michael cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Michael cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Michael is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Mandelev tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mandelev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Michael. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Michael lands a nice shot to the head.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mandelev looks to land a combination but Michael avoids it well.
Mandelev tries to bum rush Michael with a series of wild strikes but Michael uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mandelev lands with a shot to the body.
Michael throws a nice head kick!
Mandelev is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Michael.
Mandelev misses the shot to the body.
Michael throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mandelev throws a body shot but no joy.
Michael walks into a jab.
Michael wants to clinch.
Mandelev lands with an overhand left.
Michael takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Mandelev digs a good body shot into Michael's ribs.
Mandelev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Michael shoots for a double leg takedown but Mandelev sprawls well. He's pushed Michael's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Shawn Mandelev is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Michael misses with an attempted mid kick.
Michael slips a straight right by Mandelev.
Michael throws a body kick that misses.
Michael misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mandelev.
Michael takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Michael really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mandelev digs a good hook to Michael's body.
Michael darts in looking for a takedown but Mandelev gets double underhooks and turns Michael into the cage.
Mandelev scores with a shot to the side of Michael's head.

Michael escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mandelev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Michael circles away quickly and effectively.
Mandelev lands with a shot to the body.
Mandelev throws a shot from downtown. Michael moves away and avoids it.
Mandelev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Michael sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mandelev scores with a jab to the head.


Michael is rocked!
Mandelev scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mandelev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Michael looks up at the clock. Bad move! Mandelev lands a right hand from hell, dropping Michael. Mandelev pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shawn Mandelev!
In his post fight interview, Shawn Mandelev started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
