PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Victor Loosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riggs has chosen big gun - AC/DC as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Riggs was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Victor Loosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Riggs!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loosa looks to throw the jab but Riggs is out of range.
Riggs shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Loosa cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Riggs has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Loosa tries to bum rush Riggs with a series of wild strikes but Riggs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Riggs shoots in and drives through. Loosa sprawls well.
Riggs ducks right into an uppercut from Loosa.
Loosa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Riggs.
Loosa misses with a hook.
Loosa throws a body shot but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Riggs throws an elbow that misses. Loosa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Riggs's guard. Nice move by Loosa!

Loosa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Riggs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Loosa has managed to get both his arms back between Riggs's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round but I would say that Victor Loosa will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Loosa is taking a breather. Riggs says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Loosa is looking to take a break and control but Riggs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Riggs takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Loosa connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Riggs avoids the body shot from Loosa.
Loosa cracks Riggs with a right hand to the side of the head.
Loosa swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Riggs is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Loosa still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Loosa has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Loosa but Loosa pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Loosa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Riggs can do to turn this around?

A victorious Victor Loosa thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
In defeat, John Riggs stepped up to the mic, saying 'fuking embarassing losing my 1st title defense, but i got no 1 to blame but my self, i'd like a chance 2 win the title back if thats possible..i wont take morgan so lightly next time...i wanna thank the fans 4 being here u guyz were great thank u :)'.
