Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corey McCracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Corey McCracken!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex James!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James drives through with a takedown into guard.
McCracken looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McCracken can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James pushes down on McCracken's leg and manages to get into half guard.
James with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
James trying to mount his opponent but McCracken defends it.
McCracken is trying to get back to full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

McCracken gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James sitting in guard here, content to control.
It looks like James might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

McCracken looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McCracken can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
McCracken is trying to keep James in close.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
McCracken tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James looks to throw the jab but McCracken is out of range.
McCracken wants to clinch up but James keeps it at a distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

James darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
James slows the pace down in half guard.
McCracken is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
James stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex James dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
James controlling the position from side mount.
McCracken is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on James's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

James wants to pass the guard but McCracken is defending well.

McCracken makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McCracken.
James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

McCracken looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
James throws a series of punches but McCracken avoids them all with ease.

James gets the takedown into side control.
McCracken sneaks back into half guard.
James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
McCracken won't allow James to pass to mount.
James works his way into side control.

James taking a breather here.
Let's hope that James has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
James is continuing to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
James looking to punish the body of his opponent here but McCracken is avoiding damage well.
McCracken is trying to escape the position but James is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
James throws a big shot that misses.
McCracken tries to close the distance and clinch but James swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McCracken wants to clinch but James slips to the side

and James counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
McCracken blocks the elbow strike.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McCracken wants to take the fight to the mat but James manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

James decides to pull guard.
James has McCracken pulled in close to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


McCracken looks to clinch

and James counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
McCracken keeping full guard, as James tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James sitting in guard, not really doing much.
James pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McCracken is keeping the position for now.

James lands a couple of digs.

James looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
James tries to free his leg and advance position but McCracken is retaining full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
James controlling from the top position.

James manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McCracken on his heels. He'll look to pass McCracken's guard now, I'm sure.

McCracken not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
James stays in close to McCracken's body and controls the position.
McCracken looking to control.
James forces his way into half guard.
Still in half guard, James seems content to control.

McCracken trying to control but James postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

James closes the distance and pushes McCracken back into the cage.
McCracken tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.
Corey McCracken has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
McCracken wants to clinch.
Corey McCracken is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McCracken doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
James swats away the attempt to clinch by McCracken.
McCracken tries to clinch but James is having none of it.

James misses with a wild combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - McCracken looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

James moves into the clinch.

James turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
James controls the position.
James looks up at the clock and then as McCracken takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, James smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
McCracken is letting James control him for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alex James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well James has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Alex James thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
