The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McWild displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tavares throws out the jab.
Tavares jabs McWild right on the nose. McWild blinks but takes it well.

It looks like Jeffry McWild has been cut.
Tavares pivots, looking for a leg kick but McWild is out of range and Tavares settles back down.

Good leg kick by McWild there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

McWild creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tavares sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
McWild misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Tavares has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

McWild tries to land a front kick but Tavares steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Tavares lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tavares throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Tavares fakes a jab and throws a low kick but McWild checks it well.

Tavares takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

and Tavares counters with a nice uppercut.

That kick from Tavares tenderised McWild's leg. McWild is trying to keep his angry face on.
McWild will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Tavares misses with a hook. McWild ducked under it nicely.

McWild drops his hands momentarily and Tavares takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

A big strike lands for McWild! That's really hurt Tavares and he's turned his back - McWild keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! McWild jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

In his post fight interview, Jeffry McWild started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
