Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeff Holland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark West!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Holland misses with a takedown attempt

and West counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Holland is working an open guard so West takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

West feints and as Holland raises his hands in defense, West changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
West tries to free his leg and advance position but Holland is retaining full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Holland being controlled here, momentarily.

West stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Holland fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Holland. That's going to take a lot out of him.
West darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


It looks like Jeff Holland has been cut.

Holland gets caught flat footed, as West shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holland swivels though and keeps the full guard.

West got a little sloppy there for a moment and Holland has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, West has managed to get both his arms back between Holland's legs - danger averted.
West trying to control but Holland is working from the bottom.
Holland looking to hit a scissor sweep but West is one step ahead there.
West advances to half guard.

Holland looking for submissions off his back.
West controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Holland actively working from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
West is taking a breather. Holland says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

West looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
West works his way into side control.
West in side control lands a decent elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Holland is looking to regain half guard here but West keeps moving and retains side control.
Holland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

West is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Holland knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
West tries to advance to mount but Holland denies him.
Holland tries to get back to half guard but can't.
West controls the position from side control.
Holland tries to bench press West off him but West keeps the position.
West tries to move into full mount but can't pass Holland's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Holland is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

West thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Holland is looking to reverse the position.

West decides to stand up, so the ref orders Holland to his feet.
Holland goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and West counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by West.
West with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark West dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jeff Holland's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Holland swats away the attempt to clinch by West.
West misses with a few strikes there.
West closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Holland counter with a right hand.

West lands a big head kick that sends Holland tumbling to the mat! West takes a step backwards and waves Holland back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Holland is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Oh Holland is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

West pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
West fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Holland looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
West lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

West has Holland up against the cage in a clinch.

West escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mark West seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West throws an overhand right that has Holland reeling! West follows up with more punches and Holland is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mark West!
