PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ademir Azevado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Milpid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Milpid has chosen Stupify as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ademir Azevado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Milpid!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milpid fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A punch combination from Azevado misses.
Azevado lands a nice looking body shot.
Azevado dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Milpid. That did some damage!

Milpid shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Milpid was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Milpid scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Azevado to see if he's OK.

Milpid is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Azevado has escaped the position, nice work there.
Milpid sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Azevado is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Milpid thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Azevado gets full guard.
Azevado has momentary wrist control but Milpid slips an elbow through the middle.
Azevado bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Milpid's guard.
Azevado looking to sit in guard and control but Milpid gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Azevado trying to keep a closed guard but Milpid is proving a slippery customer.

Milpid slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Milpid tries to score with some ground and pound. Azevado controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Who's going to make the next move?
Milpid wants to control but Azevado is keeping him busy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Azevado tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Milpid wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Azevado takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Milpid looks up at the clock and then as Azevado takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Milpid smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Milpid tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Milpid has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Azevado tries to bench press Milpid off him but Milpid keeps the position.
Milpid cracks Azevado with a big elbow.
Milpid misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Azevado on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Azevado is trying to control but Milpid passes into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Azevado is not content to let Milpid control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Azevado tries to bench press Milpid off him but Milpid keeps the position.
Milpid is working Azevado over with some ground and pound from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Milpid dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Azevado tries to land a front kick but Milpid steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Milpid fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Azevado counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Milpid!

Milpid wants to get back to his feet but Azevado drags him back down.
Azevado wants to take a breather but Milpid manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Azevado.

Milpid working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Azevado doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Azevado manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Azevado seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Milpid for as long as he can get away with.

Milpid escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Azevado gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Milpid can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Azevado controls the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ademir Azevado.
Milpid dives in for a single leg takedown but Azevado sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ademir Azevado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Milpid.

Azevado tightens his grip and picks Milpid up, before dumping him to the ground. Milpid manages to land in guard.

Azevado is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Our spies down at at Hilo Training Center inform us that Milpid has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Milpid has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Azevado can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Azevado is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Milpid lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Azevado is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Milpid is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well Azevado has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
