Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 30 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jt Colossus!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirahama walks into a left hand.
No joy there for Colossus, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Colossus throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shirahama counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Colossus throws a shot from downtown. Shirahama moves away and avoids it.
Colossus misses with a body shot.
Shirahama showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Colossus.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Colossus dodges the ground and pound from Shirahama.
Colossus managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Shirahama.
Shirahama misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Shirahama throws a strike aimed at the side of Colossus's head but Colossus avoids it well.

Colossus avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Shirahama.
Colossus is looking to regain half guard here but Shirahama keeps moving and retains side control.

The strikes coming from Shirahama are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Colossus felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Colossus prevents Shirahama from moving into mount.
Shirahama has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Colossus can't do much from the bottom here.
Shirahama is working Colossus over with some ground and pound from side control.
Shirahama looks up at the clock and then as Colossus takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shirahama smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Shirahama throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Shirahama in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shirahama lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.


Colossus is rocked!

Shirahama wants to lay and pray for a moment but Colossus keeps working.
Colossus regains half guard, as Shirahama was trying to land strikes.
Shirahama not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Colossus is pressing down on Shirahama's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Shirahama drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Colossus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Shirahama has Colossus in his guard.

Shirahama had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Colossus defends it easily.

Shirahama is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Colossus defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Shirahama's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Shirahama shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Colossus but Colossus pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Shirahama counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Colossus is looking for a sweep. Shirahama is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Colossus makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Colossus.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shirahama trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Colossus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Shirahama is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Colossus pulls his head out easily.
Shirahama is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Ryōzanpaku Dojo, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Shirahama wants to improve his position but Colossus is controlling well.
Shirahama is refusing to be controlled, as Colossus sits in half guard.
Shirahama is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Colossus taking a breather but there's no such thing in a fight! Shirahama has locked on to a kimura from the bottom - he uses it to sweep and is now looking to finish from the top position! He's got it! Colossus has tapped! Great work by Shirahama! Lay and pray doesn't pay, kids! Just remember, you heard it here first.
