Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Kadek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Mortensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mortensen has chosen In Extremo - Krummavisur as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gunnar Mortensen!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mortensen shoots in for a takedown but Kadek shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mortensen is stalling in the full guard.

Mortensen stands up from Kadek's guard - Mortensen perhaps looking for a knockout.

Mortensen clinches up with Kadek and pushes him back against the cage.

Kadek drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mortensen gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mortensen tries to score a body lock takedown but Kadek shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Mortensen is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kadek can't fight it off and eventually Mortensen manages to take the fight to the floor. Kadek looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mortensen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mortensen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mortensen wants to control from the top but Kadek keeps moving.
Mortensen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Mortensen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kadek has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mortensen has managed to get both his arms back between Kadek's legs - danger averted.
Mortensen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kadek swivels though and keeps the full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gunnar Mortensen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Mortensen goes for a double leg but Kadek avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kadek continues to drive forward.
Adam Kadek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gunnar Mortensen.

Mortensen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kadek stuffs the takedown.
Kadek shoots for a double leg takedown but Mortensen sprawls well. He's pushed Kadek's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mortensen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mortensen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kadek was well out of range. Poor timing from Mortensen.
Kadek looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Mortensen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kadek swivels and escapes.

Mortensen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mortensen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Mortensen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kadek keeps working.
Kadek sneaks back into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A looping hook to the body misses from Mortensen. Kadek does a little dance to reset his feet.

Gunnar Mortensen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mortensen stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Kadek throws up his legs and catches Mortensen in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Mortensen tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Kadek! That came out of nowhere!

Adam Kadek was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
