These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Fernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Tupou Tuivaga!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernandez gets caught napping as Tuivaga dives in and scores a takedown. Fernandez manages to retain guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fernandez is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fernandez wanted to stand there but Tuivaga had control of the position.

Fernandez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Fernandez drops back looking for a leg! Tuivaga is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tuivaga manages to kick Fernandez off! Fernandez jumps back into Tuivaga's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tuivaga is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fernandez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Fernandez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Fernandez tries to clinch up but Tuivaga circles away and keeps his distance.
Fernandez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tuivaga sprawls well. Tuivaga wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fernandez gets slowly back to his feet.

Tuivaga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fernandez's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fernandez looking for a triangle here. Tuivaga is fighting it but it looks tight! Fernandez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Tuivaga is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Frank Fernandez!
