Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Moody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francisco Vargas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nathan Moody!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Francisco Vargas!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vargas shoots in and bounces Moody off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Vargas controls from within his opponent's guard.
Vargas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Vargas keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moody's head.
Vargas throws a big right hand that misses.
Vargas scoring with some ground and pound.

Moody is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vargas defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vargas throws a big right hand that misses.
Vargas postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moody keeping moving, preventing Vargas from controlling successfully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vargas looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vargas is in close to Moody's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Moody keeping moving, preventing Vargas from controlling successfully.

Francisco Vargas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Vargas throws a head kick that misses.
Moody tries for a takedown but Vargas circles away easily

and Vargas holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Vargas goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Vargas gets control of Moody's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vargas will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Vargas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Vargas throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Vargas trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Vargas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moody is controlling him.
Moody has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Moody controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Vargas looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Francisco Vargas was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Vargas has taken the fight to the clinch.

Vargas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Moody gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vargas to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Vargas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Vargas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Moody working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vargas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vargas looking to sit in guard and control but Moody gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Vargas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moody is one step ahead there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Francisco Vargas dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Vargas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Moody sprawls well initially but Vargas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Vargas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Vargas is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Vargas looking to control but Moody is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Vargas postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Moody bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Vargas and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Francisco Vargas!
