Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Mattews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Mattews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Stone!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone tries a head kick but it misses.

Mattews drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stone is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Mattews postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mattews controls the position from side control.
Mattews creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Stone sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mattews tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Stone is trying to control Mattews's posture but Mattews avoids it.
Mattews tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Mattews wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy.
Stone wants to control but Mattews postures up.
Stone tries to bench press Mattews off him but Mattews keeps the position.
Mattews throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Stone is trying to improve his position.

Mattews tries for a kimura but Stone is defending well.
Mattews in side control lands a decent elbow.
Mattews tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Stone is looking for a sweep.

Mattews wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stone keeps working.
Stone wants to control but Mattews postures up.

Mattews is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stone knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Stone tries to improve position but can't.
Mattews lands a nice forearm strike.

Mattews tries for a kimura but Stone is defending well.
Stone takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mattews is looking to take a break and control but Stone is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Mattews is trying to ground and pound but Stone uses the momentary lack of control by Mattews to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stone slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Mattews trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mattews is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Stone has a closed guard, preventing Mattews from standing up.
Stone lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mattews looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stone is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stone with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stone throws a strike but Mattews rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Stone looking for a sweep. Not yet Stone, not yet.
Mattews throwing strikes but missing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mattews is fighting to break Stone's control of his arms but Stone is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Mattews stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice body kick from Stone.
Stone looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Stone throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Stone circles away from the clinch attempt.

Mattews bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The strikes coming from Mattews are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Mattews throws a strike aimed at the side of Stone's head but Stone avoids it well.
Stone manages to get back to half guard.
Stone tries to get to full guard but Mattews has control of the leg.

Mattews is nestled in close to Stone, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mattews seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Stone moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Stone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mattews can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Stone is looking for a triangle but Mattews pushes his legs off easily.
Mattews connects with a couple of short punches.
Mattews trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mattews slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mattews working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Stone is looking to regain half guard here but Mattews keeps moving and retains side control.

Mattews decides to stand back up.
Mattews tries to clinch up.
Mattews shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Stone sprawls well. Stone wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mattews gets slowly back to his feet.
Sean Stone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mattews doesn't manage to clinch there - Stone circles away.
Stone stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


It looks like Matt Mattews has been cut.
Matt Mattews is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stone looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Stone walks into a straight right hand from Mattews.
Stone fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mattews.
Mattews cracks Stone with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


It looks like Sean Stone has been cut.

Stone scores with a kick to the midsection.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mattews is defended easily by Stone.
Mattews tries to clinch up.
Mattews moves in looking to clinch but Stone pushes him off.

and Stone counters with a nice leg kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stone moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
An inside leg kick lands from Stone.
Stone circles away from the clinch attempt
and Stone counters with a body kick.
Stone slaps away a takedown attempt from Mattews, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Mattews. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mattews tries for a takedown but Stone sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Matt Mattews will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Stone throws a leg kick which misses Mattews's front leg but catches the back leg as Mattews tries to avoid it.

Mattews darts in looking for a takedown but Stone gets double underhooks and turns Mattews into the cage.

Stone tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mattews's elbow.

Stone has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mattews regains guard immediately.
Stone looking to sit in guard and control but Mattews gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stone tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Stone looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Matt Mattews overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stone utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sean Stone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mattews working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Stone's head.
Stone tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stone keeping moving, preventing Mattews from controlling successfully.

Mattews got a little sloppy there for a moment and Stone has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mattews has managed to get both his arms back between Stone's legs - danger averted.

Mattews connects with a couple of short punches.
Mattews won't allow Stone to sweep him here.

Mattews is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stone is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stone has escaped and now he's on top!

Mattews controls Stone momentarily but Stone frees himself.
Stone controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Stone trying to control the position from guard on top but Mattews is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mattews gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Stone counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mattews's knee momentarily.
Matt Mattews is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mattews lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Mattews tries to clinch but Stone is having none of it.
Stone misses with a body kick.
Stone lands a high kick!

And that's the end of the fight!
Sean Stone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Mattews has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
