Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox moves in looking to clinch but Pennington pushes him off.
Pennington stuffs the takedown attempt from Cox. Cox gets slowly back to his feet.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pennington holds on and takes a little breather.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pennington connects with a nice short shot to Cox's temple.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pennington accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Cox is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pennington sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Pennington is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Cox has Pennington pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cox pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pennington tumbling to the mat - Cox dives into Pennington's guard.
Pennington has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cox slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pennington manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cox has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pennington uses from the top position.
