Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Santo Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santo Mayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Felipe Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chavez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Mayer looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Chavez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mayer throws a big elbow that misses.
Mayer wants to control from the top but Chavez keeps moving.

Chavez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mayer postures up in Chavez's guard and throws a big left but Chavez blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mayer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mayer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Mayer working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Chavez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Santo Mayer wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Mayer is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Chavez to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Chavez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Mayer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mayer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Chavez is looking for a sweep.

Mayer is looking to take a break and control but Chavez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Chavez is looking for a sweep.
Mayer throwing shots but missing, from side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Mayer misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Chavez wants to control but Mayer postures up.
Chavez is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Mayer is staying active.

Mayer misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Mayer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mayer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chavez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mayer throwing strikes but Chavez manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Chavez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chavez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Mayer wants to take a breather but Chavez is having none of it.

Chavez is looking to control Mayer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chavez avoid being mounted?
Chavez regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mayer.
Mayer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Chavez is adopting a defensive guard.
Mayer lands a couple of digs.
Mayer trying to control but Chavez is working from the bottom.
Chavez wants to sweep but no luck.

Mayer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Santo Mayer.
No luck for Chavez with that takedown attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mayer gets to his feet. Chavez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Mayer ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mayer no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Chavez has gone for a leg lock! Mayer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Chavez's guard.
Mayer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mayer throws a big right hand that misses.
Chavez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mayer is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chavez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chavez has escaped and now he's on top!

Chavez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mayer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mayer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mayer!

Mayer misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mayer throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Felipe Chavez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chavez is not content to let Mayer control the position.
Mayer looking to control but instead Chavez has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Santo Mayer showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mayer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
