PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Floyd Star (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weidman has chosen King Fantastic- West Coast Synthesizer as his entrance music. The key to victory for Floyd Star has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Floyd Star!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Anderson Weidman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Star stuffs the takedown.
Weidman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Weidman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Star circles away.
Floyd Star has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson Weidman.
Star shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Weidman but Weidman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Star throws a body shot but no joy.

Weidman shoots in and bounces Star off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Star is trying to control the position but Weidman postures up.
Weidman trying to control the position from guard on top but Star is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Weidman is working Star over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Weidman pushes down on Star's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Star trying to control from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Weidman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Star does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Weidman drops an elbow to the side of Star's head.
Weidman is looking to take a break and control but Star is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Weidman wants to work for an arm triangle but Star is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Weidman in particular looking to stall.

Weidman looking for a submission but Star manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Weidman trying to control the position from guard on top but Star is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Star controls Weidman momentarily but Weidman frees himself.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Anderson Weidman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Star shoots in and drives through. Weidman sprawls well.

Weidman gets a double leg takedown into Star's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Weidman wants to pass the guard but Star is keeping the position.
Star is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Weidman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Weidman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Star's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Star's back!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Weidman working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Star is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Weidman has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Star taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Anderson Weidman!
An intense looking Anderson Weidman took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Floyd just wasn't ready, I'm the best in the division, I think I proved that tonight and thats why I'll remain Undefeated and Undisputed. '.
