Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jed Masilungan!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masilungan throws a leg kick
and Vegata connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Masilungan takes a swing at Vegata's ribcage but misses.

Masilungan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Vegata is trying to defend but Masilungan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Masilungan trying to control the action but Vegata is working from the bottom.
Vegata is trying to get back to full guard.
Vegata slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Masilungan postures up in Vegata's guard and throws a big left but Vegata blocks it.
Masilungan trying to control the position from guard on top but Vegata is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Masilungan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Masilungan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Vegata working for submissions but it's allowed Masilungan to get to half guard.
Vegata tries to roll over but Masilungan keeps him under control.
Vegata is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Tenacity Elite - 17 Coaches, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Masilungan is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Vegata is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
