Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Elias Maxwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitaliy Ovechkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vitaliy Ovechkin!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ovechkin takes the fight into the clinch.
Maxwell prevents a takedown attempt there.

Maxwell drags the fight down to the ground.
Ovechkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Maxwell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ovechkin looking to sit in guard and control but Maxwell gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ovechkin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Ovechkin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Maxwell is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ovechkin.

Maxwell has control of an arm but Ovechkin manages to advance to Maxwell's back!
Maxwell has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Maxwell looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Maxwell is having to fend off submission attempts from Ovechkin, who is looking to sink in the choke. Ovechkin doesn't have the hooks in though and Maxwell manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Maxwell is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ovechkin misses with a takedown

and Maxwell counters by clinching up.

Maxwell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ovechkin shoots in for a takedown but Maxwell shows good takedown defense.
Elias Maxwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitaliy Ovechkin.

Maxwell manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ovechkin on his heels. He'll look to pass Ovechkin's guard now, I'm sure.
Maxwell controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Maxwell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ovechkin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Maxwell uses it to pass to side control.

Maxwell is trying to get an arm triangle but Ovechkin is defending well.
Maxwell is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Maxwell has hold of Ovechkin's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Ovechkin tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Maxwell cranks the arm and Ovechkin screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Ovechkin, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
