PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tapda Mattus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mattus is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by My heart. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapda Mattus!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mattus shoots in for a takedown but Morgan shows good takedown defense.
Morgan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Morgan throws a left and a right that both miss

and Mattus decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Morgan's guard.
Mattus postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Morgan wants to stand and escape but Mattus is having none of it.

Morgan uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Mattus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mattus thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Morgan's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morgan is looking to escape.
Mattus working Morgan over with strikes.

Mattus seems to be working for a kimura but Morgan defends the submission attempt.

Mattus is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mattus stops Morgan from getting back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morgan is staying active underneath Mattus, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Morgan is trying to stand back up but Mattus is controlling him
Mattus throwing shots but Morgan is blocking nicely.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Morgan is trying to stand.
Mattus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mattus looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Mattus not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Morgan is trying to stand up here but Mattus is controlling him well.
Mattus thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Mattus is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Morgan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Morgan tries to get out of the position.

Mattus looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mattus is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Morgan reverses the position - he's now on top in Mattus's guard.

Morgan wants to pass the guard but Mattus is keeping the position.
Morgan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mattus's guard.
Mattus not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Morgan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mattus's guard.
Mattus is looking to improve his position.
Mattus is trying to control but can't.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Morgan trying to control from half guard but Mattus is working away.
Mattus trying to control from the bottom.
Morgan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mattus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Morgan pulls his head out easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mattus is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Morgan scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mattus tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Mattus looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Morgan wants to control but Mattus is keeping him busy.

Morgan decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Mattus avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Morgan cracks Mattus with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Mattus looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Morgan finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Morgan lands a big right hand that sends Mattus crashing to the mat! Morgan stays standing though and waves Mattus back to his feet!


Mattus is rocked!
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Morgan engages and cracks Mattus with a massive lead left hook - Mattus tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Morgan is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Andrew Morgan!
During a confident post fight interview, Andrew Morgan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
