The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn fails to land with a series of punches.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ramon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ramon showed some decent athleticism there.
Ramon wants to pass to mount but Penn is defending the position.

Ramon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Penn knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ramon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Penn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
