Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Shaw!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nigel Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw misses the shot to the body.
Shaw avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've been informed that Diaz has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Diaz catches Shaw with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Shaw shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shaw showed some decent athleticism there.

Shaw is working for a kimura but Diaz is defending it quite comfortably.
Shaw thows a huge punch but Diaz dodges it nicely.
Diaz tries to get to full guard but Shaw has control of the leg.
Shaw is nestled in close to Diaz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Shaw wants to pass to mount but Diaz is defending the position.
Shaw works his way into full mount!

Diaz wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Shaw.

Shaw tries to control but Diaz wriggling away.

Shaw controlling from the full mount.
Shaw lands a big elbow.
Shaw wants to control the pace but Diaz is squirming around nicely.
Shaw breaks from Diaz's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Diaz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Shaw tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Poor strikes thrown by Shaw there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Shaw misses with a head shot.

Shaw has isolated one of Diaz's arms. Diaz looking to fight him off but Shaw twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

A less than humble Brad Shaw misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
The defeated Nigel Diaz had this to say: 'It's like, you know... Whatever man.'.
