And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Cook!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen lands a two punch combo.

Nielsen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Nielsen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Nielsen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cook is trying to keep Nielsen in close.

Cook working for a triangle but Nielsen defends it easily.
Cook looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cook utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Nielsen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Nielsen throwing strikes but missing.
Cook is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nielsen prevents Cook from getting back to his feet.
Nielsen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cook pulls Nielsen in close to prevent any damage.

James Cook has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Nielsen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cook.
Cook throws a right hand that Nielsen ducks under and follows up with a left that Nielsen also avoids with ease.
Cook closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nielsen circles away.
Cook shoots in looking for a takedown but Nielsen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cook's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cook shoots in looking for a takedown. Nielsen tries to sprawl out of it but Cook keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nielsen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

so Nielsen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nielsen postures up and lands a big shot to Cook's brow.

Nielsen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Nielsen wants to stand and escape but instead Cook has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nielsen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Nielsen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Cook blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nielsen.
Cook wants to sweep but Nielsen has passed to side control!

The strikes coming from Nielsen are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Cook tries to control but Nielsen manages to take his back.

Cook tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Cook holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nielsen tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Nielsen cracks Cook with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nielsen sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Nielsen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nielsen wants it to stay on the feet.
A combination from Cook does no damage.
Nielsen swats away the attempt to clinch by Cook.
Cook fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cook tries to clinch up but Nielsen circles away and keeps his distance.

Cook wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Nielsen has him pressed against the cage.
Cook jumps guard but Nielsen turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Nielsen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cook shoots in looking for a takedown but Nielsen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cook's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Nielsen counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Cook is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Cook is breathing heavily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Cook or perhaps it was just good defense by Nielsen, which made it look bad.
Nielsen tries to close the distance and clinch but Cook swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James Cook seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cook tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nielsen defends well and Cook ends up having to push Nielsen into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Cook has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nielsen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nielsen doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cook must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

and Nielsen counters with a straight right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Isidro Nielsen will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Cook fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Nielsen avoids it really well and circles away.

and Nielsen counters with a nice leg kick.
Cook looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nielsen is fending him off so far but Cook persists. Nope, Nielsen circles away and we're back to standing.
Cook takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cook is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Nielsen can't fight it off and eventually Cook manages to take the fight to the floor. Nielsen looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cook throwing shots but Nielsen is blocking nicely.

Nielsen is looking to control Cook's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nielsen avoid being mounted?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nielsen is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cook is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Isidro Nielsen.
Cook fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nielsen is on top in guard.

I would just about give that final round to James Cook.
Well Nielsen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
