Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lance Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Herrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lance Brennan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerry Herrera!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Herrera is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brennan's half guard.
Herrera winds up and cracks Brennan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Herrera is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Brennan is defending against the submission attempts here by Herrera.

Brennan is looking for a sweep. Herrera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Brennan wants to control but Herrera is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Herrera throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Lance Brennan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Brennan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Brennan dives in and scores a takedown into Herrera's guard.

Herrera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brennan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brennan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Lance Brennan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Brennan tries to clinch but Herrera is having none of it.

Herrera gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brennan tries to roll over but Herrera keeps him under control.
Herrera wants to take a breather but Brennan is having none of it.
Brennan wants to control but Herrera is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Brennan is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Brennan tries to hold on but Herrera postures up.

Herrera jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Brennan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Brennan and Herrera has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Brennan is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Brennan wants to get back to his feet.
Brennan is not content to let Herrera control the position.

Brennan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Herrera on the ground.
Brennan is pressing down on Herrera's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Brennan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Herrera throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brennan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brennan throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Herrera trying to control the position from guard on top but Brennan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Herrera might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brennan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jerry Herrera.
Brennan misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jerry Herrera will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Brennan is looking to clinch.
Brennan tries to close the distance and clinch but Herrera swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Brennan gets a clinch.

Herrera jumps guard.
Herrera manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Herrera with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Brennan manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Jerry Herrera has got the better of the ground game so far.
Herrera prevents Brennan from improving his position.

Herrera is breathing heavily.
Brennan is working hard here to advance position.
Brennan is trying to control but can't.
Brennan is trying to stand up here but Herrera is controlling him well.

Herrera is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Brennan has given up his back here. Will Herrera look for the submission or keep pounding away?
