Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lowell Bond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lowell Bond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alex Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bishop gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Bond counters with a takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Bond scoring with punches and elbows.
Bishop is looking to reverse the position.
Bishop sneaks back into half guard.
Bond with the ground and pound but Bishop uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Bishop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bond is one step ahead there.
Bishop is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bishop is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bishop wants to stand and escape but Bond is having none of it.

Bond postures up in Bishop's guard and throws a big left but Bishop blocks it.
Bond is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Bishop is trying to keep Bond in close.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bishop thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Bishop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bond is one step ahead there.

Bond postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bond throwing strikes but missing.
Bishop trying to keep a closed guard but Bond is proving a slippery customer.
Bishop lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Bishop working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Bishop stands up over Bond, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bishop looking to sit in guard and control but Bond gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bond postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Bishop is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bond is staying active underneath Bishop, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bishop thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bond's head.
It looks like Bishop is going to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alex Bishop will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bond fails with the takedown.
Bishop is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bond sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Bond looking to score a takedown here. Bishop is defending well but Bond drives through and ends up in Bishop's guard.
Bond works over Bishop with some ground and pound from guard.
Bond is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Bond is working Bishop over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Bond postures up and lands a big shot to Bishop's brow.

Bishop looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bishop working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bond doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bond manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bond stands up over Bishop, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Bishop has his hands on Bond's head, controlling the position.
Bond throwing strikes but missing.
Bishop manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bond manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bishop wants to control from the top but Bond keeps moving.
Bishop would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Bishop postures up.
Bishop distracts Bond with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bond is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bishop defends well.
Bishop trying to control the position from guard on top but Bond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bishop passes Bond's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bond is trying to control but can't.
Bishop is trying to control. Bond wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bishop tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Bond has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bishop is working away from the top position though.
Bishop working Bond over with strikes.
Bishop is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Bishop tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bond knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bishop throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Bishop showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Bond tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bishop swivels and escapes.
Bond ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Bond shoots in for a takedown but Bishop shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bond stuffs the takedown attempt from Bishop. Bishop gets slowly back to his feet.
Bond changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bishop tries to avoid it but Bond manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bishop to the ground. Bishop escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lowell Bond. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bond scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Bishop looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bond is fending him off so far but Bishop persists. Nope, Bond circles away and we're back to standing.

Bond gets a double leg takedown into Bishop's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bond throws a big right hand that misses.
Bond really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bishop has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bond can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bishop not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bond is sitting in close to Bishop's body. Bishop has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Bond is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Bond is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Bishop.
