PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tye Calluk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabiano Stefani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calluk has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Fabiano Stefani will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tye Calluk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabiano Stefani!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stefani dives in for a single leg takedown but Calluk sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Calluk connects with a nasty looking knee right to Stefani's face.


It looks like Fabiano Stefani has been cut.

Stefani breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Calluk walks forward, straight into a front kick from Stefani.
Calluk is breathing heavily.

Stefani throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Calluk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Stefani is in Calluk's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Stefani controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
It looks like Stefani might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stefani is pushing down on Calluk's leg trying to pass to half guard. Calluk is fighting to maintain full guard but Stefani has managed to sneak the leg through.

Stefani is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Calluk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stefani.
Calluk tries to kick Stefani off but Stefani keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stefani is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Stefani passes to full mount!
Stefani tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Stefani's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Calluk wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stefani takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Fabiano Stefani.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stefani.
Stefani fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Calluk avoids it really well and circles away.
Tye Calluk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabiano Stefani.
Stefani closes the distance and clinches up with Calluk, looking for a takedown. Stefani pushes Calluk against the cage but Calluk circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fabiano Stefani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stefani throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Calluk was covering up waiting for the punch and Stefani finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Stefani stands and throws Calluk's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stefani controls the position.
Calluk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Calluk gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stefani won't let Calluk get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Stefani controlling his opponent.

Stefani is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Stefani!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Fabiano Stefani!
