PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Nergal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bishop's entrance music is teenagers. A fine choice. Nergal has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Rocky Nergal has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Walter Bishop's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocky Nergal!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Nergal.
Nergal is looking to clinch but Bishop is avoiding it.
Nergal misses with a head kick.
Nergal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nergal wants it to stay on the feet.
Bishop takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Bishop shoots in for a takedown but Nergal shows good takedown defense.
Nergal lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bishop enables Nergal to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bishop manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nergal throws a leg kick which misses Bishop's front leg but catches the back leg as Bishop tries to avoid it.
Nergal fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bishop.
Bishop swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Bishop fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nergal, pushing him back against the cage.
Nergal wants to stall.

Bishop wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walter Bishop. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bishop tries to score a body lock takedown but Nergal shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Nergal tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bishop's elbow.
Nergal throws an elbow but it misses.
Nergal with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Nergal lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Bishop backwards.

Nergal's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Bishop is refusing to be controlled, as Nergal sits in half guard.

Nergal wants to hit a switch here but Bishop passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Nergal there!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nergal is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bishop pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Nergal is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bishop avoids the attempt from Nergal to control.
Bishop fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Nergal is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bishop postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Nergal bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Bishop and the fight is over!
