PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barry Griffith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Black has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffith shoots in for a takedown but Black shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Black stuffs the takedown attempt from Griffith. Griffith gets slowly back to his feet.
Barry Griffith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffith fails to land the takedown.

Griffith closes the distance and clinches up with Black, looking for a takedown. Griffith pushes Black against the cage but Black circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Griffith looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Griffith or perhaps it was just good defense by Black, which made it look bad.

Griffith shoots for a takedown but Black saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Griffith is trying hard to land a takedown here. Black sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Griffith has Black up against the cage in a clinch.

Griffith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A big right from Black misses.
Black throws a right and a left that both miss.
Black throws the left hand but Griffith avoids the punch easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Griffith.
Griffith throws an overhand right that lands on Black's shoulder, as Black tries to avoid the shot.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Griffith breaks from the clinch.
Griffith shoots in looking for a takedown but Black manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Griffith's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Griffith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Black sprawls well. Black wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Griffith gets slowly back to his feet.

Griffith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Black tries to avoid it but Griffith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Black to the ground. Black escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice defenses there by Griffith.
Griffith closes the distance and clinches up with Black, looking for a takedown. Griffith pushes Black against the cage but Black circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Griffith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Black manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Griffith's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Griffith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Black defends well and Griffith ends up having to push Black into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Griffith swings wildly with an uppercut but Black uses good head movement to avoid it.
Griffith tries to work over Black's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Black prevents a takedown attempt there.
A left hand lands to the body for Griffith.
Black is trying to break the clinch but Griffith has him pressed against the cage.
Griffith blocks an uppercut.

Griffith is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Black can't fight it off and eventually Griffith manages to take the fight to the floor. Black looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Griffith wants to stand but Black has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Black is breathing heavily.

Griffith pushing down on Black's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Griffith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Black won't allow Griffith to pass to mount.
Black really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Griffith seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Black is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
