The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Sparks.
Russell moves out of range of the body kick from Sparks.
Russell slips a jab and a cross from Sparks.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Sparks.
Sparks is looking to take a break and control but Russell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Russell is trying to work for a sweep but Sparks has mounted him!
Russell is squirming around, avoiding Sparks's attempts to control the action.
Russell is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Sparks punching from mount but Russell doing a good job of avoiding damage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Russell is trying to escape the mount.
Sparks goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Russell is on top in guard.
Russell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sparks is looking to cinch up a triangle. Russell throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sparks's body to avoid the submission. Sparks has instead reached around Russell's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sparks arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
