The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamara's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McConnell connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nakamara scrambles back to his feet.
McConnell misses with the combination.
McConnell shoots in and gets a takedown into Nakamara's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Matthew McConnell was interviewed post fight and said 'It's never fun losing but, you know I love this sport so I'm going to keep training and try to come back with a win.'.
