Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khalifa Khalifa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hades (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalifa's entrance music is Habibi Ya Nour El Ain. A fine choice. Hades is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Bon Jovi: Wanted Dead Or Alive. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Khalifa Khalifa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Hades!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hades ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hades with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Hades gets the takedown into side control.
Khalifa avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Hades.
Hades looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hades wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khalifa keeps working.
Hades throws an elbow but Khalifa slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hades tries to advance to mount but Khalifa denies him.
Hades working the ground and pound but Khalifa is defending the strikes.

Khalifa is looking to reverse the position.
Hades tries to move into full mount but can't pass Khalifa's legs.
Khalifa gets back to half guard.
Hades has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Khalifa is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hades is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Khalifa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hades's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We've been hearing that Khalifa has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Hades is trying to maintain the position but Khalifa is very close to passing his half guard.

A close round but Sam Hades will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Khalifa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hades stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
No joy there for Hades, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Khalifa wants to control from the top but Hades keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hades is on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Khalifa wants to hit a switch here but Hades passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Khalifa there!

Hades thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Khalifa's head.

Hades looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hades is nestled in close to Khalifa, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Khalifa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hades is working away from the top position though.

Sam Hades showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hades shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Khalifa sprawls well. Khalifa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hades gets slowly back to his feet.

Hades takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Khalifa. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
The crowd cheers as Hades lands an impressive looking overhand right. Khalifa doesn't seem phased though.

Khalifa shoots for a double leg takedown but Hades sprawls well. He's pushed Khalifa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sam Hades is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Khalifa is looking for a sweep.
The strikes coming from Hades are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Sam Hades comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hades has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
