Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Messe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sid Sarkasov!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sarkasov swings for the body but Messe moves out of range.
Messe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Messe fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Messe looks to land a combination but Sarkasov avoids it well.
Messe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Messe misses with a double jab
and Sarkasov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Messe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Messe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sarkasov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
It looks like Sid Sarkasov has been cut.
Sarkasov's coach down at Nonprofit Vegas Elite $50 ($1000 value) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sarkasov's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Messe clips Sarkasov with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Sarkasov a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout.
Sarkasov is rocked!
Sarkasov looks winded!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Messe tried to score with a low kick but Sarkasov checks it.
Sarkasov is still on wobbly legs! Can Messe finish him?
Messe scores with a jab to the body.
Sarkasov takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sarkasov avoids a punch combination nicely.
Messe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sarkasov seems to have recovered his senses.
Sarkasov showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Messe.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Sarkasov has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sarkasov there as he acknowledges the shot.
Messe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sarkasov looks to throw the jab but Messe is out of range.
Sarkasov checks a leg kick.
OH! Sarkasov has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Messe smells blood and charges in for the finish! Messe unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of Sarkasov sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Juan Messe!
Juan Messe looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'He's a great fighter but I just knew I was better that him!!and I love to fight!!'.
