PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Sharpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DeAndre Perry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Perry's choice of entrance music: born 2 run. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharpe tries to clinch

and Perry moves into the clinch.
Perry throws a knee to the head but misses.
Perry wants to break the clinch but can't.

Sharpe wants a takedown.

Perry gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Sharpe regains guard.
Perry throws a big right hand that misses.
Sharpe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Perry moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sharpe throws a big elbow that misses.
Sharpe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Perry postures up and lands a big shot to Sharpe's brow.
Perry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sharpe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Perry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sharpe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Perry got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sharpe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Perry has managed to get both his arms back between Sharpe's legs - danger averted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sharpe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Perry wants to stand but Sharpe has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. DeAndre Perry wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sharpe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Perry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sharpe fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Perry looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Sharpe backs away from a small jab... but Perry lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Sharpe crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Perry with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). DeAndre Perry!
Post fight, an emotional DeAndre Perry said 'you are looking at the best fighter in the world the champ better watch his back'.
